In a lot of ways, slam poetry was the first art form I took seriously and the one that scares me the most. Great slam poetry is at once immensely personal and inexplicably universal. Hearing an amazing performer transports you. It’s magnificent. While I have been practicing since high school, I feel that I am very much still at the beginning of my poetry journey.
